Jim Renacci, a Republican member of Congress who is running for the U.S. Senate in November, will speak at the Akron Press Club, Tuesday, October 9, at the Tangier in Akron. There will be the opportunity for questions from the audience.
This event is co-sponsored with the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics and The City Club of Cleveland.
Renacci was elected to Congress in 2010 and is serving his fourth term representing the 16th district of Ohio, which includes Wayne County and parts of Medina, Summit, Stark, Portage and Cuyahoga counties. He is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Budget Committee.
He is a native of western Pennsylvania who moved to Wadsworth in 1983. There he founded a company that owned, operated and managed nursing facilities throughout the region. Renacci also founded a CPA firm in 1989, along with other businesses.
Also in Wadsworth, he was a volunteer firefighter, served on the city’s Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and was elected city council president twice. In 2004, Renacci was elected mayor of Wadsworth
Renacci holds a bachelor degree in business administration from Indiana University in Pennsylvania and is a Certified Public Accountant. He and his wife, Tina, have raised one daughter and two sons.
