Summit County Executive Russ Pry will give his annual State of the County address Wednesday, March 27, at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron. There will be an opportunity for questions following the speech.
The Akron Press Club sponsors this annual speech.
Pry was elected to his second four-year term as county executive in November. He has been executive since July 2007, when he was selected to complete the term of retiring Executive James McCarthy.
Summit County’s chief executive oversees a budget of nearly $488 million. Pry was instrumental in keeping Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. world headquarters and Bridgestone Firestone North America Tire in Summit County.
A lifelong resident of Summit County, Pry holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Kent State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law in 1984. Prior to becoming county executive, Russ chaired the Summit County Democratic Party for 10 years. He is a life member and past treasurer of the Mogadore Historical Society and was the chairman of the Village of Mogadore Charter Review Commission in 1990.
