Gordon Felt, president of Families of Flight 93 Inc., will speak at the Akron Press Club on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Tangier in Akron. The title of his talk will be “40 Individuals, 1 Mission.” There will be the opportunity for questions following the speech.
Of the four aircraft hijacked on Sept. 11, 2001, Flight 93 was the only one that did not reach its intended target in Washington. Gordon’s brother, Edward P. Felt, was killed aboard United Flight 93 as the passengers and crew fought to retake control of the plane.
The Families of Flight 93 is a charitable organization that is working with the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation, the Flight 93 Federal Advisory Commission and the Friends of Flight 93 to the create a memorial in Shanksville, PA, where the plane crashed.
“This year, I will be focusing my remarks to the Akron Press Club on our diversity and collective drive to stand up to the evil in this world,” said Felt. “Too much ideology out there and not enough common sense.”
Gordon and his wife, Donna, live in New York State where they continue to develop specialized programming for special needs students as well as actively advocate for the completion of the Flight 93 National Memorial.
