A panel will discuss the “Lay of the Land: The Political Landscape in 2012” at the Akron Press Club’s luncheon on Thursday, January 26, at the University of Akron’s Martin Center. There will be the opportunity for questions from the audience.
This event is co-sponsored with the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics.
The panel will feature longtime Ohio political consultants Gerald Austin, a Democrat, and Mark Weaver, a Republican. Dr. John Green, Bliss Institute director and distinguished professor of political science, will moderate the panel.
Austin and Weaver are the Bliss Institute’s Distinguished Chairs of Applied Politics for 2012. Experienced political leaders are selected annually as distinguished chairs to enrich the University of Akron’s applied politics curriculum through lectures, small group meetings, faculty consultations and public events. The chairs are filled by members of both major political parties, in keeping with the bipartisan nature of the Bliss Institute.
