A panel of public health professionals will discuss how Summit County reacted to the recent Ebola situation during a lunch presentation by the Akron Press Club on Monday, Nov. 17. Lunch will be at 11:45 a.m. and the program will follow. There will be the opportunity for questions. This event is co-sponsored by the University of Akron Center for Emergency Management and Homeland Security Policy and the university’s Public Health Law and Science Center. The panelist are:
  • Terry O’Sullivan, director of the Center for Emergency Management and Homeland Security Policy Research at the University of Akron.
  • Donna Skoda, Summit County Public Health assistant health commissioner.
  • Katherine A. Van Tassel, director of the Public Health Law and Science Center and Health Law Program at the University of Akron.
The panel will be moderated by M.L. Schultze, WKSU web editor and reporter.   Details: Program: “The Ebola Crisis: Preparation, Response, and Ethics in Summit County and Beyond.” Time: Buffet luncheon begins at 11:45 a.m., Monday, Nov. 17. Program follows. Place: Quaker Station, 135 South Broadway (free parking behind the building). Cost: note - new pricing in effect!

  The Akron Press Club was founded in 1971 to promote a free press and serve local journalists and public relations professionals. The group has a rich heritage of offering newsmakers a forum to discuss issues of the day at Press Club luncheons and speaking events that are open to the public. The club also funds scholarships for journalists and public relations students and sponsors annual fundraising and community outreach events.
