Ohio Rep. John Patrick Carney, a Columbus Democrat who is running for state auditor, will speak at the Akron Press Club lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Lunch will be at 11:45 a.m. and the program will follow. There will be the opportunity for questions. This event is co-sponsored with the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics and No Labels Akron.

Carney was elected to the Ohio House in 2008. He serves on the Insurance Committee, the Finance Committee, Transportation Subcommittee of Finance, and Health and Aging Committee. He also is on the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review and the Joint Legislative Committee on Medicaid Technology and Reform.

He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Ohio State University in 1998 and 2001.             Carney has worked as an attorney in the Columbus office of Porter, Wright, Morris and Arthur since 2000.  He is married to Jennifer Nelson Carney, an attorney at Bricker & Eckler. They have two daughters, Clara and Maggie.

The group has a rich heritage of offering newsmakers a forum to discuss issues of the day at Press Club luncheons and speaking events that are open to the public.
