Ohio treasurer candidate Connie Pillich will speak at the Akron Press Club lunch on Monday, Sept. 15. Lunch will be at 11:45 a.m. and the program will follow. There will be the opportunity for questions.
This event is co-sponsored with the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics and No Labels Akron.
Pillich, a Democrat from Hamilton County, is serving her third term representing the 28th Ohio House District. The U.S. Air Force veteran is the ranking minority member of the Veteran Affairs committee and is a member of the Criminal Justice and the Financial Institutions, Housing and Urban Development committees.
Pillich was a captain in the Air Force who served in support of Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. She won an Officer of the Year award at Tempelhof Air Base in Germany and is a three-time recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal.
She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma, a MBA from the University of North Dakota and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s College of Law.
She successfully argued a case before the Ohio Supreme Court concerning voting rights on local land use. The ruling confirmed the rights of citizens to help decide what their community looks like.
Pillich lives in Montgomery with her husband, Paul Forshey, and their two children.

The Akron Press Club was founded in 1971 to promote a free press and serve local journalists and public relations professionals. The group has a rich heritage of offering newsmakers a forum to discuss issues of the day at Press Club luncheons and speaking events that are open to the public.
