U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge will speak at the Akron Press Club luncheon on Thursday, Jan. 23. This event is co-sponsored by the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. There will be the opportunity for questions following the speech.
Fudge represents Ohio’s 11th Congressional District, which includes parts of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Summit County and Akron. The Warrensville Heights Democrat first was elected to Congress in November 2008.
She chairs the Congressional Black Caucus and is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Fudge serves on the Agriculture Committee and the Education and the Workforce Committee. She also is on the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee; the Workforce Protection Subcommittee; and the Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee.
Fudge has a JD degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University, and a BS degree in business from The Ohio State University.
