Kyle Kondik, author of The Bellwether: Why Ohio Picks the President, will speak at the Akron Press Club on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016. This event is co-sponsored with The University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. There will be the opportunity for questions.
Ohio voters have failed to vote for the winning candidate in the general election only twice since 1896. Kondik will talk about Ohio’s remarkable history and share his thoughts for what that means for 2016.
Kondik is an Ohio native and is managing editor of the nonpartisan Sabato’s Crystal Ball at the University of Virginia Center for Politics. He has analyzed American politics on CNN, C-SPAN, Fox News and MSNBC, and has given speeches to groups at the State Department, National Governors Association, Congressional Summer Intern Lecture Series and Princeton University.
Before joining the Center for Politics in 2011, Kondik served as director of policy and research for former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, and as a reporter, editorial page editor, and political columnist at newspapers in Ohio. He is a 2006 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
