The two candidates for mayor of Akron – Republican Jennifer Hensal and Democratic incumbent Don Plusquellic – will participate in a debate at the Akron Press Club’s luncheon Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Martin Center on the campus of the University of Akron. This event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters for the Akron Area and the University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. A panel of three journalists will question the candidates. There will be time for responses and rebuttals. Each candidate also will deliver a closing statement.

Time: Check-in begins at 11 a.m. Luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. The debate begins at noon.
Place: Martin University Center, 105 Fir Hill, University of Akron campus.
Cost: $15 for Press Club members, $20 for non-members.

No campaigning will be allowed in the debate room, including but not limited to buttons, stickers, T-shirts or other printed material. The Press Club reserves the right to refuse anyone displaying such material admission to the debate room.
