Panelists examine a plan to convert Summa Health from a non-profit medical system into a for-profit company—a transformation that impacts our community.

Don't miss this thought-provoking luncheon to gain insights from a panel featuring Paul Lee, senior partner at Strategic Health Care, and J.B. Silvers, interim co-dean of Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management, and have your questions answered about this critical transformation in our local healthcare system. The panel will be moderated by freelance journalist and Akron Press Club board member M.L. Schultze.

About the topic

The transition for Akron’s largest employer, Summa Health, began with the announcement in January that the venture capital firm General Catalyst is buying the system. The deal is estimated to cost from $1 billion to $3 billion, affects some 7,000 employees and impacts the lives of tens of thousands of patients who use Summa’s emergency, acute, critical, outpatient and home-care services.
